How can undergraduate students best prepare themselves to get involved in your research?

Research means tackling problems that have never been solved before. The most important quality I look for in students is a strong desire and determination to be the first to find a solution. A basic understanding of particle physics and some coding experience are helpful, as we rely on programming to analyze large datasets and run simulations. But more than anything, the best preparation is to develop a problem-solving mindset.
