The Undergraduate Research Opportunities Program (UROP) invites you to apply to become a UROP Peer Advisor for the 2025-2026 academic year (Fall Quarter 2025 – Spring Quarter 2026).

We are looking for motivated UCI undergraduate researchers across all disciplines—from the arts to the humanities, engineering to social sciences, and beyond. Your unique perspective is essential in helping to create a supportive and diverse research environment at UCI.

As a UROP Peer Advisor, you will play a pivotal role in inspiring and supporting fellow students through their research journeys at UCI. This position offers a unique platform to share your passion for research and contribute significantly to fostering a vibrant research culture on campus.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Engage in outreach through class announcements and tabling on Ring Road.
  • Represent UROP at a variety of UCI events, including but not limited to the Anteater Involvement Fair, Discover UCI, Celebrate UCI, the Student Parent Orientation Program (SPOP), by engaging in activities such as tabling, participating as a panelist, or co-facilitating information sessions alongside professional UROP staff. In these roles, you will share your invaluable research experiences and highlight UROP opportunities.
  • Contribute to organizing and hosting our annual events, including the UCI Undergraduate Research Symposium and the Fall Project Pitch Challenge.
  • Provide advising to UCI undergraduates through one-on-one appointments.
  • Provide front desk coverage and general office duties on an as-needed basis, including answering the phone and offering assistance to students with questions.
  • Attend weekly Peer Advisor meetings.

Who We're Looking For:

  • UCI undergraduates, who have conducted college-level research, with a passion for research and community building.
  • Individuals with excellent organizational, public speaking, and interpersonal skills.
  • Individuals who are proactive, reliable, flexible, and capable of adapting to varied tasks and demands.
  • Students who thrive both independently and as part of a team.
  • Preferred, but not required: Creativity, especially if you’re familiar with using Canva, Instagram, and TikTok to create engaging content.
  • Preferred, but not required: Received support and/or recognition from UROP and/or experience presenting at the UCI Undergraduate Research Symposium.

Commitment & Compensation:

  • This position is in-person and requires a commitment of 8-10 hours per week during UROP’s operational hours (M-F from 9 am to 5 pm), throughout the 2025-2026 academic year (Fall Quarter 2025 – Spring Quarter 2026).
  • Pay Rate: $16.50 per hour

2025 - 26 Peer Advisor Application Timeline:

  • June 19, 2025, at 11:59 pm: Application Deadline
  • June 24-25, 2025: Review of Received Applications
  • July 2-3 & 7, 2025: Conduct Zoom Interviews with Selected Applicants
  • Mid July 2025: Final Deliberations & Job Offer Notifications Sent
  • September 15 – 19, 2025: Mandatory On-Site Training (Paid). Please note that the exact number of training days and times within this period are to be finalized and may be subject to change.
  • September 22, 2025: First official week of work, including participation in Anteater Involvement Fair
